L'Associazione Internazionale degli Egittologi (IAE) ha ricevuto notifica da parte della Biblioteca Alessandrina, ospite del Congresso internazionale di Egittologi previsto per settembre 2013, che il Congresso è rinviato di un anno, fino a settembre 2014, al fine di consentire a più partecipanti di registrarsi. come l'organizzazione del Congresso è interamente nelle mani dell'istituzione ospitante, l'IAE ha rinviato a questa la decisione. Gli egittologi sono incoraggiati a seguire gli ulteriori sviluppi sul sito dell'IAE (http://www.iae-egyptology.org/) e quello del Congresso (http://www.bibalex.org/EgytologyCongressBA2013/News/List.aspx), e di sostenere gli sforzi dei nostri colleghi egiziani registrandosi per il Congresso 2014.

The International Association of Egyptologists has received
notification from the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, host of the
International Congress of Egyptologists scheduled for September
2013, that the Congress is postponed for one year, until September
2014, in order to allow more participants to register. As the
organization of the Congress is entirely in the hands of the host
institution, the IAE has deferred to this decision. Egyptologists are
encouraged to follow further developments on the IAE website
(http://www.iae-egyptology.org/) and that of the Congress
(http://www.bibalex.org/EgytologyCongressBA2013/News/List.aspx),
and to support the efforts of our Egyptian colleagues by registering
for the 2014 Congress.

Priceless ancient Egyptian artefacts are feared lost forever after a fire  gutted the museum building they were housed in.

A coin from Queen Cleopatra's reign during 51 to 30BC as well as mummies, fragments of tombs from Thebes and stones inscripted with hieroglyphs may have been destroyed in the blaze which raged for nearly five hours at the Cuming Museum in Southwark yesterday afternoon.
